What's new in the 4th edition of The First Days of School?
There's a new look for every teacher's best friend and valuable resource.
It is still the most basic book in education on
- how to manage a classroom,
- how to teach for learning and achievement, and
- how to have positive expectations.
The content and research have been updated; there are more examples; there’s a new cover; and there’s a new implementation DVD included with the book.
The common sense classroom techniques that have always worked and will work in the future are still in the book.
So, What’s New With the 4th Edition?
The number of chapters devoted to procedures has increased from one to two. Studies continue to show that procedures are that important to get established in the classroom.
- There’s a new chapter on assessment to keep students on track with their own learning.
- There’s a new chapter on professional learning teams and how they are used for increased student achievement.
- There’s a new chapter for practicing or potential administrators with guidance on how to implement The First Days of School in a school setting.
- Access to more examples is provided with “GoBe” folders—inviting readers to dig deeper by Going Beyond the basic information presented in the book. The information is stored in folders at the www.EffectiveTeaching.com website. A free DVD, “Using THE FIRST DAYS OF SCHOOL,” is presented by Chelonnda Seroyer as she shares how she implements the book in her classroom. Voted teacher-of-the-year, Chelonnda Seroyer never looked back after her first day of school. She spent two months poring through the book and used it as a guide for organizing her first day of school.
- The suggested retail price has increased from $29.95 to $32.95. But the publisher-direct price is still the same—$24.95.
